These are some small tips to help improve your SEO and your rankings in search engines such as Google and to keep them up to date.

Do you know if your website has been submitted to search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo? We'll use Google as the example, everyone wants to be at the top of Google! Your first step is to manually submit your URL's. It can take time for search engines to index your site and have it start showing up in results. This is so easy to do! Go to Google type in "Submit URL to Google" and click on the first link. BAM! Type in your URL and it's in!

Verifying your site is also very important! So you can use Google Web Master Tools and Google Analytics. That's right, you own a website! You are a WEB MASTER! You can't have a cape though. These tools are invaluble in driving traffic to your site, understanding your audience and keeping on top of your traffic. Once you are signed up you can find the best way to verify your site.

What are your Key Words? What would people be looking for when they need you? If I'm looking for shoes, I'll type in "Ladies Shoes" or in my case "MASSIVE Ladies Shoes" These keywords should appear in the title, the text of your site and within the images. Google looks at the "Alt Text" of the images you upload so pop some search terms in there. These are things you can keep on top of yourself when you are updating your content. However you need to make sure you haven't over done it or Google might find you and decide you a tad spammy. If it looks and reads naturaly, stick with it. Make sure these keywords are in the title and of course it helps if they are in the URL. There is not really an ideal Keyword Density or KD but if your pages read like an elephant.co.uk advert it's probably OTT.

Google prefers sites that are regularly updated.

This is just the beginning but these steps can help get you on the right track to better rankings in the GOOGLE and to keep them up there!
